Productions with Purpose

Video is often the most accesible and impactful form of communication, so it’s crucial that the stories we tell are worth sharing.

Promotional Video Editing

Documentary Short Trailer

A trailer for KinoLore’s upcoming documentary In My Nature.

In addition to post-production work for the documentary itself, I also scripted and edited together its initial trailer. As I assembled it, I wanted to ensure that the trailer accurately reflected the central themes and conversations explored in the full documentary. I also sought to suffinciently preview the scope and detail of the artist’s work, while also leaving the audience with enough intrigue to watch the full doc for themselves.

Community Health Center Spotlight

A video for Blue Ridge Health showcasing their dental services as well as stories from both patients and healthcare providers.

While the primary purpose of this video was to inform people of the dental services provided by the client, it was equally important to spotlight the real world impact their facilities have had across Western North Carolina. By anchoring the information with the emotion of real patients’ testimonies, the video has connected with its target audience more effectively.

Book Pre-Sale Campaign Promotion

A scrollable social media post promoting The Un Series by Kailey Bright.

This video was made to promote the pre-sale campaign for the third book in the series, Unity. After doing research into the author’s target demographic, I wrote, recorded, and edited this scrollable content and promoted it across multiple platforms. In the end, the video reached roughly 14,000 views and increased the traffic on the author’s website by over 400%.

Motion Graphics

Animated Book Promotion

An animated synopsis introducing new readers to Unfortunate by Kailey Bright.

I made this video as a way to test my workflow for future animated explainer videos. I illustrated all of my assests by hand, experimenting with several styles until I found a direction I was both happy with visually and that would allow me to work efficiently. After assembling all of my assests, I then animated all of the elements into a smooth, cohesive end product. While I used Davinci Resolve Studio’s Fusion toolkit to animate this specific video, I have extensive experience using other animation and illustration software as well, including Adobe Animate, Adobe Illustrator, Toon Boom, Procreate, and Autodesk SketchBook.

National Farmworker Appreciation Week

A video for Blue Ridge Health raising awareness around the medical needs of agricultural workers across the U.S. and the resources they’ve created to address those issues.

In order to create the animated logo for Blue Ridge Health seen at the end of this video, I first had to recreate all of the individual assests using Davinci Resolve Studio’s Fusion toolkit. Once that was complete, I storyboarded a rough animation to better understand how the camera and assets would move through the scene. Finally, I assembled all of the assets together and fine tuned the end product for both verticle and horizontal videos.

Heart Health Q&A

A video for Blue Ridge Health addressing common questions surrounding heart health and showcasing their available resources.

Because this video relies so heavily on its motion graphics, I saw it as an opportunity to create many different animated templates cohesive with the rest of the client’s branding. This has streamlined our team’s workflow, giving us immediate access to high-quality graphic templates we utilize frequently.

News Production

Produced for WLOS News 13

Breaking Weather Block

The first block of a newscast I produced during a series of severe thunderstorms.

As the only producer at the station this evening, I was responsible for deciding where our reporters would go to cover the storm and to update the show in real time if breaking news occured. I organized potential live interviews with local experts in case of emergencies, and I gathered photos and videos from the local community, seeking out the best visual elements I could and securing the legal right to share them on our station. Throughout the entire show, I had to be prepared to completely change our program to address breaking developments and communicate those changes with the studio crew, the anchors, and the reporters in the field.

Interactive Election Map Segment

An interactive graphic I designed and programmed for a primary election breakout segment.

This was one of the interactive map I developed for our election day coverage. The goal was to provide a simplified visual element to better communicate the background and outcome of one of the most discussed races of the day.

Experimental

Choose-Your-Own Adventure Animation

A children’s animation where the ending depends on the ingredients you choose.

This personal project inspired by my nephews allowed me to experiment with an interactive video where the choices you make determine the ending of the story. While I intentionally kept the narrative simple and light-hearted, I pushed myself as I plotted out the various paths, casted and directed actors for each of the characters, illustrated and animated each segment, and programmed the entire experience (including a short video game segment as seen in the secret ending), all the while keeping to a tight schedule and deadline.
